Holiday Open House for Choral Arts Ministry

Emmanuel Church- 588 Camino Manzanas, Thousand Oaks, CA
Thursday, October 24, 2013
7:00PM - 9:00PM

On Thursdays, October 17 and October 24, Emmanuel Church at 588 Camino Manzanas in Thousand Oaks will host open houses from 7 – 9 p.m. for its choirs, Novum Voce, a consortium of voices, which performs 3-4 times a year and whose members come from all over Southern California, and the Emmanuel Choir, who leads worship Sunday mornings at the 9 a.m. blended worship service. Friends and neighbors in the community are invited to experience the joy of singing and sample the different styles of music that will be performed during the upcoming holiday season as they kick off their Christmas rehearsals. The focus will be on Emmanuel's annual Christmas production for the first hour, and the Sunday worship music the second hour. Refreshments will be served. The choirs are for people who used to sing in a high school or college choir, can read music and are looking for a new home with which to share their talents. Under the direction of Elation Arts producer and director Tony Chunn, Novum Voce has performed a vast array of music during the last several years, from such major works as Duruflé's "Requiem," Vaughn Williams' "Dona Nobis Pacem" and Bernstein's "Chichester Psalms" to Gospel greats, popular Broadway show tunes and British pop music. Emmanuel choir leads worship with contemporary settings of traditional anthems, as well as modern anthems and praise music. The church welcomes everyone to check out the open houses and consider singing in the upcoming Christmas production or helping to lead worship each week. For more detailed information about the open houses, the choirs, or the Christmas production, contact Tony Chunn weekdays at Emmanuel's office, at 805-498-4502, ext. 12.
