When Darkness Fell - Good Friday Event

Good Friday marks the time in history when God reached out to a fallen humanity through Jesus’ death on the cross. On this, the darkest of days, we hold close this miracle of God with us. As darkness falls and all is lost, as our souls crumble and our hearts break, we are handed the memory of a Savior who leaned over into the void of the darkness and refused to give in to despair. And as we stumble our way through this day and through the pain of our human lives, often unable to see through the darkness, we can, too. Will you allow Him to shine a light into your darkest day? It’s why we’re inviting you to join us for Good Friday, April 3, 2015 at 7pm, at The Grove Theatre, 276 East 9th. Street in Upland, California Admission is Free. Please watch our promo video, shown below, which depicts The Good Friday message. The Strengthening Families Conference

Dear Faith Based Community! You are cordially invited to attend the Strengthening Families 2015 Conference that will be held on Saturday, May 16th at Long Beach City College! We invite all community stakeholders that want to learn about and apply prevention and intervention strategies designed to diminish the likelihood of child maltreatment. Together, we will learn about child abuse and neglect, discover the signs of abuse and neglect, understand the impact of abuse, along with effective interventions in the prevention and treatment of toxic stress and trauma. Workshops will be offered to provide learning opportunities on promoting family engagement, developing the social and emotional well-being of children and increasing capacity to implement prevention activities, programs, and support. The Strengthening Families Conference will also serve as a platform for engaging in a community discussion that includes voices across multiple service systems, agencies, parents, and faith based leaders. Each entity represents an important role in our community’s prevention efforts and the conference aims to increase our understanding of the role that each plays as well as promote the collaboration, communication, and coordination of prevention efforts among these entities to more effectively improve outcomes for children and families. Further, the conference strives to establish a common language and approach shared by all that focuses on reducing risk factors, increasing protective factors, and utilizing evidence-based and best practices in family engagement and empowerment. We look forward to your participation in this exciting day of learning, reflecting, and the sharing of ideas on how our community will move forward in working with each other to strengthen families and promoting the health and well-being of children.
