Law enforcement officials are looking for the individuals behind a bizarre attempted cocaine exchange in Vatican City. The drug seller sent a shipment of 240 grams of liquid cocaine worth $55,000 to the Vatican Post Office. The cocaine was concealed within 14 condoms.

The drug-stuffed condoms were sent from an unknown country in South America.

The package was discovered en route to the Vatican when it was intercepted at the Leipzig, Germany airport. There was no specific person addressed on the package, so any one of 800 Vatican City residents could have claimed it.

German police informed Vatican law enforcement of the sting operation, so that the person who came to pick up the shipment could be arrested, but the package was unclaimed. It is believed that the buyer was alerted to the police involvement. Vatican City officials are unsure if the tip came from Germany, South America, or within.

According to Religion News Service, Rev. Federico Lombardi, chief spokesman of the Vatican said that there was cooperation between between Vatican and German officials, but did not elaborate.

No suspects in the case have yet been determined.
