Focus on the Family Radio Theatre’s production of the Charles Dickens classic “Oliver Twist” won the 2014 Audie Award for Best Audio Drama.

So in a sense, it’s like saying Focus on the Family’s “Oliver Twist” won an Oscar. And it’s our fifth Audie Award from the Audio Publisher’s Association.

Dave Arnold, executive producer of audio drama, remarked about the win: “It’s always a huge honor to win an Audie award. Receiving this validation from the secular world proves that not only can Christians create quality entertainment, we can create the very best entertainment because we are children of the true Creator.”

A tradition of excellence

For those of you familiar with Focus on the Family Radio Theatre, you’re probably not surprised by this recognition because you’ve already come to know and love the many stories we’ve shared together.

Close-up of microphoneRadio theatre is like an audio movie that plays in your imagination. We use cinema-quality sound, award-winning writers and voice actors, orchestral music scores and riveting scripts to make beloved stories like “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” and “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” from the Chronicles of Narnia series, and C.S. Lewis’ masterpiece “The Screwtape Letters” come alive. Other stories we’ve created include “Amazing Grace,” the audio drama that looks at the lives of abolitionists William Wilberforce, John Newton and Olaudah Equiano, and “C.S. Lewis at War: The Dramatic Story Behind Mere Christianity.”

Fans of Focus on the Family Radio Theatre, I’m curious: what your favorite story?
