Nancy Writebol, the SIM USA missionary who contracted the Ebola virus while serving in Liberia has arrived in Atlanta to continue treatment. Writebol joins infected Samaritan’s Purse physician, Dr. Kent Brantly at Emory University Hospital.

Writebol, 59, was able to take a dose of an experimental serum while still quarantined in Liberia. The longtime nurse is said to be showing slight signs of improvement.

Unlike Brantly, Writebol was not able to walk into the hospital without assistance. She was wheeled in Emory University Hospital on a stretcher accompanied by doctors wearing hazmat suits.

The two missionaries will be put in the same isolation unit at the hospital. Officials have continued to insist that the Ebola patients’ presence at the hospital neither poses a threat to other patients nor the public.

Writebol’s son, Jeremy Writebol, said his mother and father have spent their entire life serving people in need. "They walked into Liberia knowing it was a place in great need. They were seeking to help and serve people in great need. And so they knew the cost could be high on that end. They've constantly said their life is not their own, it's theirs to give."
